hamptons.ie is a tourism discovery site for Ireland. We cover all 32 traditional counties, and our first complete content programme follows the Wild Atlantic Way — the places along and beside the route that a well-planned trip actually gets you to.
The promise
The core promise is simple: discover Ireland beyond the obvious itinerary. The famous places get covered properly too — with the practical detail that makes them useful — but the site exists for the headland you didn’t know about, the glen with a walk in it, the island with a story, and the event that is actually on.
What the name means
“Hamptons” here has nothing to do with the famous New York Long Island area. The name is our shorthand for a feeling rather than a location: the idea that the best coastal places in Ireland — the quiet headlands, the working harbours, the cliff-top walks — deserve the same attention and care that the most famous destinations get.
Ireland’s west coast is, in its way, our Hamptons: dramatic, liveable, and far better than the postcard.
How we keep it honest
- Facts are researched, checked and dated. Every page separates when it was researched, who fact-checked it, and when the practical details — prices, hours, access — were last verified. When details grow older than ninety days, the page says they may be out of date rather than pretending otherwise.
- Sources are public. Where a page leans on an authoritative source — a heritage record, an official site, a tourism board — the page links it in a “Sources and verification” section, so you can check what we checked.
- Quality gate. A page is not published — and not indexed by search engines — until it passes a written quality threshold. Thin pages do not ship.
- Commercial is disclosed. Some links are affiliate links. Every one is labelled, and sample or test offers are marked unmistakably so they are never mistaken for real.
- Some places stay protected. Fragile habitats and private land get a protected view: no precise pin, no pressure to push through.
- Images carry their rights. Every published image has a recorded licence, credit, and verification date.
What is not here yet
This is an early build. Coverage is concentrated on the Wild Atlantic Way launch counties and a shortlist of places worth knowing, and the rest of the 32-county programme follows as the editorial work scales. See the Editorial policy for the full set of rules we hold ourselves to.
