The Wild Atlantic Way
From Malin Head in the far northwest to Kinsale in the southeast, the Wild Atlantic Way runs along some of the most dramatic coastline in Europe. It is also the first complete content programme on hamptons.ie — the places we know best, and the lesser-known ones tucked beside the route.
The route, in four stretches
Where to start
North Atlantic
From Malin Head at the northwestern tip of the island to the Sligo headlands: the wildest coastline in the country, with some of the highest cliffs in Europe and the quietest villages on the route.
West Atlantic
Achill, the Aran Islands, Croagh Patrick and Connemara: big water, bigger mountains, and a landscape that has shaped Irish storytelling for a thousand years.
South Atlantic
The Cliffs of Moher, the limestone plain of the Burren and the estuary where the Shannon meets the sea. The most-visited stretch of the west coast, with far more to it than the famous viewpoint.
Southwest Atlantic
Skellig Michael, the Blasket Islands, the Iveragh and Dingle peninsulas and the walled town of Kinsale, where the Wild Atlantic Way ends at the head of a warm little harbour.
Coverage
The launch counties
The first content programme covers nine western counties, built into the four stretches above. The full site is structured for all 32 traditional counties from day one — the rest follow as the editorial programme scales.
